Bioanalytical Research Scientist

Job Summary


We are currently seeking a Bioanalytical Research Scientist to join our Bioanalysis Group at our Hatfield facility. This is a permanent position. 



Key Responsibilities


  • Perform quantitative analysis of drug/test compounds in biological matrices using LC-MS/MS for both discovery and regulatory studies
  • Perform method development and validation for bioanalytical assays
  • Accurately follow SOPs, protocols and analytical procedures, ensuring complete and traceable documentation
  • Prepare biological samples using various extraction techniques (e.g. protein precipitation, liquid-liquid extraction, solid phase extraction)
  • Analyse and interpret data to ensure quality and integrity of results; flag and investigate any outliers or deviations
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to support preclinical and clinical studies
  • Ensure timely delivery of results to meet client and project deadlines



Essential Qualifications & Experience


  • A BSc or MSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline
  • At least 3 years’ experience in LC-MS/MS bioanalysis
  • Working knowledge of GLP and/or GCP practices
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent record keeping
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team under time pressure
  • Good problem-solving skills and effective communication abilities

Senior / Principal Scientist – In Vivo Pharmacologist (Respiratory, Oncology & Infection Models)

 

Location: Hatfield, Hertfordshire, UK

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Senior or Principal Scientist to lead the establishment and execution of innovative in vivo models, contribute to client success, and shape the future of preclinical research at Pharmidex.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:


  • Take a lead role in establishing, developing, and validating preclinical models in-house – with a focus on respiratory disease, oncology, and infection.
  • Serve as Study Director, managing studies from planning and execution through to data reporting and scientific interpretation.
  • Coordinate and maintain a safe, compliant, and well-organised laboratory environment.
  • Support and supervise technical staff across in vivo projects.
  • Engage with clients and collaborators to ensure successful delivery of studies and ongoing relationships.
  • Contribute to internal project reviews, innovation initiatives, and cross-functional discussions.

 

 Your Background:


  • Degree (BSc/MSc/PhD) in Biological Sciences, Pharmacology, or a related life sciences discipline.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on in vivo experience in a pharma, biotech, or academic translational research setting.
  • Demonstrable experience developing and running preclinical Respiratory or Oncology models.
  • Hold or have previously held a Home Office Personal Licence (PIL Modules 1–3 or equivalent).
  • Proven ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and independently manage projects.
  • Familiarity with in vivo techniques including multiple dosing routes: intravenous (IV), subcutaneous (SC), and intraperitoneal (IP).
  • Competent in data analysis using GraphPad Prism, SPSS, or similar software.
  • Experience of managing large and complex in vivo studies with good documentation and planning skills.
  • Willingness to conduct occasional out-of-hours work to meet study needs.


 Desirable (not essential):


  • Experience with in vivo imaging techniques (e.g. IVIS, microCT).
  • Practical expertise in cell culture or ex vivo sample analysis.
  • Background in GLP or regulatory-aligned studies.
  • Previous exposure to client-facing roles or project oversight in a CRO setting.
